Yelp!BR Yappy Halloween Run

Yelp!BR’s annual 5k Yappy Halloween Run and 1-mile Stroll will be held on October 6th from 12pm-5pm at North Blvd Town Square in downtown Baton Rouge. Yelp!BR is a non-profit, no-kill shelter which rescues dogs waiting at kill shelters to help them find their forever homes. The event features a kids’ village, food trucks, DJ, dog adoptions, costume contest and more. Runners can sign up and get more information on the shelter and the event at yelpbr.com.

Did you know that 1 in 5 women will experience sexual violence in their lifetime? In East Baton Rouge parish alone, that means over 80,000 women and girls are survivors of sexual violence. Men and boys are also at risk. STAR, the Sexual Trauma Awareness and Response Center, offers free community education on how to recognize, intervene in, and prevent sexual violence.
